Hi everyone and welcome to Daily Nut! I’m so glad you found your way here.
I’m a 28-year old health and raw food enthusiast from Helsinki, Finland. A few years back I graduated from university (of applied sciences) and have a degree in design. I’m an aesthete, escapist and a nature lover.
I come from a food loving family. My mom is an excellent cook and has tought me a lot about cooking and baking. I have definately gotten a great food inheritage from my childhood home. I remember my mom always baking delicious buns, cakes and pies. She’s also very skilled at seasoning and with spices. Growing up, food was never bland and now as a result of that, I myself am a bold seasoner. I have a lot of food memories and I have realized how important it is to learn cooking at your childhood home. To me, at least, it’s a great blessing!
I have the most wonderful husband in the world and we love to cook together with him, although I’m usually the one who does all the baking. On Fridays we usually try out new recipes and have a three course meal. These are the special moments that I wait all week long!
Pure food is a passion for me and baking and cooking is part of my everyday life. My food philosophy is simple: pure, healthy and delicious. Although I try to eat healthy everyday, I have a weakness for all things sweet and I’m a real epicure. Therefore learning to bake and make raw delicacies have changed my life completely. These days I can feast without guilt.
The urge to feel better and healthier got me to skip gluten a few years back. The beginning was tricky and tasted bad. Then I found good gluten free recipes which I fell in love with. I also started to develop recipes of my own and suddenly there was no looking back. And I’m not going to even start about the health benefits – I’ll just say that they were big. Life changing. Therefore all of my recipes are always gluten free and almost always dairy free. I also believe firmly in paleo diet and I will post a lot paleo-friendly recipes too.
Some time ago I realized that cooking and baking is actually my hobby. Earlier I had thought that my hobbies were only reading, painting, drawing, jogging and handicrafts. Then it got to me that all my life cooking and baking has played a big role in my life, even if I haven’t always realized it. It has also been a way to cope with things and show people how much I care. And actually, to me, food is about love. It’s about loving yourself and others. It’s also about loving earth and nature.
I always get really excited when I stumble across a great recipe or find new ingredients. It’s a wonderfull thought that I can keep a record of my food successes, ideas and inspirations – and possibly inspire someone else. Usually I adapt the recipes I find and develop recipes of my own. I love to invent, improve and perceive. And learn at the same time! So Daily Nut is a notebook of the cream in my kitchen. It is also a protest against industrial, malnutritious and artificial food.
Pure, raw, unprocessed. Healthy and delicious. Every day.
